Race to the Top
Bloom-Vernon and Race to the Top

Bloom-Vernon is one of over 400 participating districts in Ohio's Race to the Top (RttT) initiative.  RttT is a federally funded grant that seeks to accomplish the following goals:
1. Improve graduation rates
2. Reduce performance gaps among students
3. Reduce the gap between Ohio and the best-performing states on the NAEP
4. Increase college enrollment for students 19 and younger

Bloom-Vernon's specific initiatives to accomplish the stated goals are:

1.  Implementation of new learning standards and assessments
2.  Training teachers in the use of Formative Instructional Practices.  Research suggests that the use of these practices in the classroom are extremely powerful in helping students learn
3.  Implementation of a new principal and teacher evaluation system that is required by law to use student growth data as 50% of the evaluation.
4.  Training in the use of Value Added data
